Internet in another country

Nick and I had a shared priority when it came to our new apartment – he wanted cable TV plus Internet, I just wanted Internet – the faster the better with preferable unlimited cap.

It looked very promising with our apartment already cabled and a central switchboard for the complex. But then we got into the stickiness of needing a local bank account which we only got this week and Nick being the only “real” person in terms of income and financial agreements when he has been out of the country most weekdays. It was looking good on Monday afternoon when they let me verify the account details but now the email with our account number which we use to pay the deposit has gone astray…I’m suspicious that it has got caught by his work spam filters.

In the meantime the data on my phone which I thought would be more than enough has been running through at a rate of knots I’ve never seen before despite me turning off mobile data on most of the heavy uses. I have been reduced to Starbucks lattes so I can use their free wifi.

Fingers crossed we get it sorted (or rather our local broker) gets it sorted before Jon gets here next week or any critical games for the rugby World Cup!
